| FEBRUARY 19 2005 Can you believe Pia? |
|
Pia Guanio is deluded: she actually believes she doesn't have hordes of admirers. Recently, when we asked her why she still didn't have her own website, she replied,"I don't think I have that many fans."
Perhaps
she isn't aware of the impact she has on males because she started her
career working a job where good looks didn't count for too much. That
position was staffer in a TV news feature show, where Pia did grunt
work putting in hours interviewing, researching, writing and producing
segments. After that, she took an offer to become number two editor
in a glossy Internet print magazine where she showed she could turn
out pretty good prose. It was also where she picked up a taste for reading Fortune, Businessweek and the Economist. Her career then took off, literally, when she became a "traffic angel", buzzing above Manila in a helicopter helping motorists by alerting them to congestion. That was the time when roughly half the city's male population started to notice what was long evident: Pia's a looker. A looker with a six-foot tall boyfriend. Sorry guys. Now she's one of TV's top talents as well as a model, leading a hectic career not for the weak of heart. She gets through the schedule fuelled by strong cups of espresso, but she doesn't even have enough time to sit down and surf the Internet. What kind of life is that? Anyway, until somebody gets to work building that website for her, you fans out there (you know who you are) will just have to be happy with the pictures here. And you could also try reassuring her you exist in large numbers by writing her at this address. If you behave yourself and keep the drool level down, we might actually even pass on the messages to her. |
